Memories of Franklin

“Franklin was a sheriff with the Harris County Sheriff's Dept for over 30 years. During his time there he was named Officer of the Year for his bravery and service. In his retirement, he worked as an agent for the Texas Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Commission, and most recently as a campus police officer at the Lone Star College. For decades he worked as a security guard at the local Catholic Church on Sundays. He was always a leader, and a friend to many. He spent time with and gave service to his family, friends and community. That was his love language.”

“When I imagine Uncle Franklin, he always has a smile on his face. He had an infectious laugh that’s hard to forget. He had that “Joe Family” optimistic and friendly personality. I have admired his dedication and service to his community and his family. I know he will be missed deeply by all who knew him.”

— Suzanne Joe Estep

“My favorite memory I have of Franklin, was when Ginny was at UT and living in Austin. We had an impromptu family gathering and Franklin showed up and I remember saying to him how surprised I was he was in town as it’s a long drive from Houston. He told me he was here that weekend to see Ginny, then he laughed his sweet Franklin laugh and said I come and go all the time and nobody knows.

That made me think how lucky Ginny was to have such a loving dad who would drive down even for the day to spend time with her.

A devoted dad among many other titles.”
